SERVICES

All priests who are ordained under World Light Fellowship are legally ordained. The fellowship is an incorporated, non-denominational church in the State of New York and in the United States.  As such, they may perform all of those services of an ordained Priest including but not limited to baptisms, funerals, marriages, etc..

Performing Marriages

As an ordained priest/minister, you can legally perform wedding ceremonies. In order to perform weddings in the US, you must check with the county clerk's office, where the couple received their marriage license to find out if there is anything you must do to perform a marriage ceremony in that county. Rules vary from county to county. In 90% of the US, there is nothing you need to do.

In some counties and countries, a letter on fellowship stationary verifying your ordination may be needed, and in some cases, you may need a copy of the World Light Fellowship incorporation papers as proof of their legal status. Some places that may require this is in the New York City area, Washington DC, and in certain counties in Virginia and Hawaii. The fellowship will provide the documentation that is needed, upon request. Please check early to see if these extra papers are needed!

Hands on Healing

In some states in the USA, one has to be legally ordained to do “Hands on Healing”.  Being ordained under World Light Fellowship gives you legal status where this is required.

Establishing a Legal Fellowship

The Federal Government will require evidence that you are a legitimate organization with and an active membership, regular meetings, ongoing classes, and a newsletter. In order to be approved as a non-profit organization, you must exist as an organization first. You cannot accept donations until you are approved for tax exempt status.

If you are considering legally incorporating as a fellowship you may wish to consult a lawyer for help in filing all of the appropriate forms for incorporation and non-profit status.
